Close to 200 people filled KlubHaus61 in Jasper on August 6 for the second stop in the 2026 "Your Community, Your Say" Big Tent town hall series. Republicans, Democrats, candidates, current officeholders, and residents who do not fit neatly into either party came to ask questions and hear one another out.

Thank you to the Dubois County Democratic Party for hosting; Alan Hanselman and Schnitzelbank Restaurant Jasper for the space, food, and drinks; Jason McCoy for moderating; Tiffanie Arthur, Alex Hohl, and Doug Uebelhor for joining the panel; and everyone who participated in person or online.

The conversation covered the Mid-States Corridor, battery energy storage systems, property taxes, zoning, local government procedure, and the public's role in decisions that affect our land, roads, schools, and communities. People in the room did not agree about everything. That was the point: representative government works best when officials are accessible, residents have the facts before decisions are made, and disagreement does not end the conversation.
